Conclusions of the Session 1: Standards regulations and codes of practice.

Chair: Alberto Vegas (INTA), Mathias Altman (LBST)

In this session, the discussion was focused to the procedure of the elaboration of the draft proposal. As the participants had not the whole information of the methodology and the progress of the EIHP work, a detailed discussion of the proposed topics was no possible. Anyway, the goals and the scope of the European Integrated Hydrogen Project were discussed. The main conclusions achieved were the following:

1. The main objective of EIHP (the elaboration of the proposal) is a work that will benefice the international industry once approved.

2. The methodology of EIHP seems to be the correct one.

3. Additionally to the efforts in a normative for the international approval of hydrogen vehicles, some actions for refuelling stations should be carried out. Actions in refuelling stations should have as objective that an approved hydrogen car can be refuelled in any station of any country. For achieving that, it was agreed that not a normative should be prepared, but international standards covering at least the interface between the vehicle and the station, as well as fuel quality.

4. It was suggested to orientate the objectives not only to the economic benefits of such a project, but also for the environmental benefits that the use of hydrogen vehicles supposes.
